Opening and closing the door

As a Writer/Director who relishes in writing the first and last frame in a film; I love to figure out how to open and close a film in a way that gives me Goosebumps. I was inspired by how filmmakers match their opening frame with their ending one. John Ford's The Searchers is a good example of how it can be done brilliantly. Jack Murray cut the film together, but having a character open a door, revealing the great open desert of western America, and 'closing' the film with a closing of the door as John Wayne walks out back into the world. In my scripts I usually do this a lot. I like to open to wide shots or close ups. But I will ALWAYS match them when I pick the one I want. In OMNISCIENT; the first frame of the film is the opening of a certain characters eyes, and I know it sounds overly posh but it's because the character's motives are that they are finally opening their eyes to relinquish their depressive nature. The closing moments of the film see a certain character die as violent men stand around his corpse which is stood up and impaled on a large wire coming from the floor below. The character can finally rest while the others deal with the impending situation about to ensue, it is both resolution and set up for the sequel.
