Title sequence

Sometimes films are chosen to be opened in the form of the title sequence, where credits and shots of things the filmmaker finds to be useful to the plot are visible. Television shows often almost ALWAYS do this. A good few examples are from HBO shows such as Game of Thrones, True Detective and Westworld. They have room to splash a budget on an impressive opening title sequence. The first season of Westworld cost $100m alone. Later Game of Thrones seasons rack up the budget, anyway. So in these shows we can see into the show's anatomy via the sequence. In True Detective we see characters in dire moments, we see desolate landscape and horrific imagery throughout. Isn't that what True Detective is? Atleast on the surface. We don't delve deeper until the characters are revealed to us. Breaking Bad, this little show not many people are aware of; has a small but powerful title sequence of the title changing from pearly white to corroded by yellow flame. I'm not sure if it's entirely deliberate but the main character is Walter WHITE and he's not exactly turning into a Simpson, but he is Breaking Bad. Turning from a white knight who falls beneath everyone in his life, into a boss, a hardened legend. Westworld is the most recent addition to the HBO giants, it opens with simple imagery of mechanics, robots being made- then- the park opens. Editors really do think about how to present their television show in the first few minutes.
