Colour

In post production we play with our food we've made. A poor, poor excuse for a metaphor could be that we have created chicken nuggets and chips, and then we make it look nice, and taste nice, with a nice colour grade. In films like the Matrix, we learn that our characters are in fact inside a computer simulation. The Wachowskis have decided to put a greenish tint on it, to give this subconscious illusion that screams computer coding. When shooting footage, we can add noise onto the image via this technique. Why would you want to make the image look noisier? It eventually leads to a more satisfying image. The parts where the characters are out of the simulation and in the now-real world are desaturated because all the life has been taken out of the world and so the colour should crystallise this.
