CGI
Computer Generated Imagery; is a massive, massive, MASSIVE part of the film industry. Some consider it to be a downfall, others understand it's role in creating canvas artwork. It's a paint brush only some seem to be able to use correctly without making smudges and ruining the Mona Lisa they're working on.
For franchises like Star Wars; this theme strikes hard conversations. The original trilogy seemed to be able to create a universe with hardly any visual effects. Back in 1976 when Star Wars was being shot, they would use models etc to create illusions, as computers didn't do what we can achieve today. The latest instalments such as Star Wars The Force Awakens and Rogue One A Star Wars Story contain a lot of CGI. The ones before them contained more, and that had fans of the beloved franchise up in arms. Sure, the story and dialogue is bad, and adding too much of this fake stuff caused it to seem like CGI was the problem.
